About Us
Reduce | Reuse | Recycle | Reskill
The 4Rs is an established social enterprise situated within the recycling plant in Derry/Londonderry. We upcycle and repurpose furniture that would otherwise go to landfill.
The 4Rs work in partnership with the Derry City and Strabane District Council to reduce household items going to landfills and promote recycling and reuse of items to assist in creating a greener environment. We reduce landfill weight by collecting and selling unwanted household furniture. We repair, upcycle and repurpose as much as we can and sell these in our shop New2You.
Our Courses are designed around using old materials and improving people's skills. We run a range of courses such as Basic Joinery, Mosaics, Crafts and more. On our courses we aim to build peoples confidence to do DIY and upcycling themselves.
Volunteering at the 4Rs offers community members the opportunity to volunteer with us in order to gain skills and confidence whilst meeting new people. Volunteers are welcomed to join us in every aspect of the 4Rs from the New2You shop, upcycling in the workshop or out in the van on deliveries/collections. We collaborate on this with the North West Volunteer Centre.
We run a free Drop-In Morning on Mondays from 9.30am-12.00pm where everyone is welcome. It is an is an opportunity for people to call in and learn sewing, knitting, crocheting, upcycling, ect. The Drop-In Morning promotes recycling and reuse whilst providing a safe, welcoming environment to come together, connect with others and learn skills over a cup of tea/coffee and a sweet treat.
The success of the 4Rs is strengthened by collaborative working with the local community; we are always looking to work with other comunities groups and companies. Our staff share our values and are motivated to support and empower those within our community.
